F.A.Q.

Booking a tattoo or coming to an appointment can be daunting, so below is some information to make this easier.

Please do get in touch if your query isn’t covered here.

How do I book a tattoo?

You can use the booking form on this site, call us or come in and see us for a chat. If you have images you’d like to send us, you can email us on oldtowntattoohastings@gmail.com

How should I prepare for an appointment?

Please make sure you are hydrated and have eaten at least 2 hours before your tattoo appointment.

Drinking the night before is not recommended and we reserve the right to refuse to tattoo anyone who arrives at their appointment under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

In addition, avoid tanning or applying any fake tan on the area to be tattooed, prior to your appointment.

Can I get a tattoo if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

You cannot have a tattoo if you are pregnant and/or breast-feeding.

Although we practice the highest levels of infection control, it is not advisable. We advise this for your child’s health and safety as well as your own. The risk of any sort of infection could have more serious implications under these circumstances.

Can I get a tattoo if I am under 18 years old?

No. The legal age is 18 and the permission letter from parents is not a legal loophole, it’s a myth.

How should I look after my new tattoo?

Your artist will talk you through all the aftercare and you will be given the information to take home with you. If, during the healing process, you have any questions or queries, just get in touch with us and we’ll talk you through it. We do sell our own balm for help with healing, so ask us about that.

Can I bring a friend to my appointment?

We do not allow friends in the tattoo area, so instead of leaving them in the foyer, for our receptionist to entertain, we ask that you come alone.

How much will my tattoo cost?

Tattoos vary due to size, location, style, whether they are pre-drawn designs or custom. Our hourly rate is £80, which applies when doing large, on-going work, such as a backpiece. All other designs are priced by the piece, which means that no matter how long is takes, you know what you are paying. The price of your tattoo will be agreed beforehand, with your artist.

Custom designs require a deposit, which is repayable against the total price of your tattoo. if you cancel or do not show up for your tattoo, we offer one more appointment time. If it happens again, you lose your deposit.

How do I pay?

Your tattoo or session is paid for before you are tattooed. We prefer cash but also have a card machine. Don’t forget to get your loyalty card stamped at this point!

Do you do piercings?

No.
